A-one+ Triumph as Most Considerate Company in UK

A-one+ Triumph as Most Considerate Company in UK at Annual Awards

The integrated highways services and solutions provider was recognised with Gold and Silver Awards during the Considerate Constructor Company Awards at a ceremony in London on Thursday 5 November. What makes this achievement more remarkable is that A-one+ Yorkshire & Humber (Area 12) also walked away with the Most Considerate Company in its class, fending off around 700 other eligible companies in the UK. The awards were presented by Peter Hansford, Chief Construction Advisor to the UK government, whose role is to provide cross-departmental coordination and leadership on the UK construction industry.

Managing Director for A-one+ Clive Leadbetter, said: “Much of the work we carry out on the network is road-side, but this can still affect people near their home. It is important to ensure we do as much as we can to be a good neighbour so we registered with Considerate Constructor Scheme for the road network areas we cover in Yorkshire and Humber, North East and East Midlands.

“We are delighted to achieve recognition from Considerate Constructor with Gold and Silver Company Awards which demonstrates dedication and commitment that goes above and beyond, but even more thrilled to be presented with overall winners of Most Considerate Company in the UK especially as this is the first year working with the scheme in Yorkshire.”

The Considerate Constructor Scheme is an independent, non-profit-making industry organisation founded to improve the image of construction. Registration is voluntary and in doing so you agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice. The benefits are: industry, local authority and government endorsement, demonstrating commitment to the highest standards, assessment and benchmarking performance and accreditations and awards.

This is the latest in raft of industry-wide recognition for A-one+, which carries out maintenance and repairs on motorways and trunk roads on behalf of Highways England. Just last month they were multiple winners at the Highways Magazine Excellence Awards where they were the most successful company on the night, scooping two highly prestigious awards for their Ambassador Group and Highways England’s Biomass Harvesting Trial s as well as being short-listed for two other categories. The annual event was hosted by TV personality Gaby Roslin who presented the awards; these wins demonstrate the company’s commitment to tackling the skills shortage as well as being environmentally sustainable.

This is looking like the most successful year yet for the company which has seen further recognition for corporate responsibility and industry innovation from the Green Apple Awards, Institute of Civil Engineers and Chartered Institute of Highway Transportation as well Construction News awards.

The A-one+ team in Normanton has also recently returned from Paris where they showcased their road safety initiative ‘Impact Protection Vehicles (IPV) No Strikes’ which is a training programme aimed at road-users to educate of the dangers for them and road-workers around traffic management and the impact vehicle which protects workers at road-side and when laying cones.

Highways England Service Delivery Team Leader, Roger Wantling, said: “These are fantastic achievements for A-one+ for a majority of projects in the Yorkshire & Humber area and we are thrilled that their successes are being recognised on both a local and national level.

“We work closely with A-one+ in the region on a range of projects and services, and look forward to continuing that work with them on providing an ever improving service for our customers.
